The upper surface is a marble-look stone insert in cream white with subtle grey veining, bonded above a continuous American Ash veneer edge band that presents as a warm medium-brown rim around the full perimeter. This two-material composition is a deliberate construction choice. The stone-look surface provides the visual weight and cool tonal quality associated with natural marble, without the porosity, inconsistency, or unit cost of a solid stone slab. The American Ash veneer edge band introduces warmth at eye level and seat height, where the material reads most clearly during service. The result is a top that reads as considered without requiring a materials budget that natural stone would demand.
The clear 2K polyurethane coat applied over the full top seals both the stone-look surface and the veneer edge band as a unified finish layer. A 2K (two-component) polyurethane system cross-links chemically on cure, producing a harder, more chemical-resistant film than a single-component coat. In a cafe or restaurant dining context, this matters: the surface faces daily exposure to coffee, acids, cleaning chemicals, and repeated wiping. The layered rim profile, with its softly rounded upper arris, also reduces the risk of chipping at the most exposed point of the edge during handling and daily service.
